I find it funny that every time someone comes in with alternative ways of thinking or people who have different view points about life, suddenly is supposed to seek psychiatric help or "stop living your life in a video game".
thats not what its about.
in essence:
fan loves game. fan does not see need for game sequel. game also needs players to keep game afloat.
developers/publisher. dont care anymore about game. they make sequel to milk. all players move to game sequel. original game becomes obselete. fan becomes lonely and sad.
the end.

You say that you're "weak, fat and slobby and slow in real life", then why don't you make some exercise? You could grow to be exactly like your toon...except in height lol
You have to put the same effort in real life that you put in Gw. Just swap monsters and quests with people and work. Try to fight for what you want, try to change your life, and try not to refuge yourself like you do.
Everything is possible if you want too.

i dont see how that will make life more interesting mate. people dont fight with swords in real life.
I considered joining the army or just go somewhere in the middle east to get blown up by a landmine.. but im to afraid that I'll live. i dont wanna be blind or dead or disabled for the rest of my life.
i envy does people who could just go to a big war.. like world war 2.. or vietnam and just die fast and easy. at least fight for something and feel alive.
these days our goverments are run by whiny little sissis who cant agree on anything... just delaying whats ultimately to come - the end of us all.

im not saying that aint right. But I like how GW1 compliments my RL. im not going to live my life in GW1! I just want it there. i dont think ill even play it that much. I just want to know that my character is there.
call it an insurence. for if I should die(stabbed or shot or something). it makes me calm knowing that my char is there.. you know?

On second thought, you might be beyond psychiatric help.

So the problem isn't that you hate your life... but that the greatest thing you'll ever accomplish in it is maxing out a video game character? That's still pretty sad and messed up

This is reason enough to close this thread, and recommend this man/boy to a psychiatrist.

If leaving a piece of you behind is your main concern, I think GW is the wrong way to go about it. If you really want to do something like that make a time capsule out of a thermos or something. That will last longer and be physical evidence you existed at one point of time. Of course I think you need to work on the physically existing part first. If all said disasters did happen no servers would save your precious character but a stainless steel container would last several hundred years.

Do you even know anything about psychiatry? You shouldnt joke about it, and try act like you can diagnose people online(thats just completely dumb).
As far as anti-GW, well whatever. It seems everyone here screams witch witch, if it does have anything to do with topics YOU want to whine about, which I see plenty off.
This time zinger.. don't give me a brain tumor. Just go away if you cant add anything constructive to the discussion!
lacanser - I dont see why the thread should be closed. I feel its a valid topic, even though Guru is often being sterotyped as a place where threads get closed for little to no reason. Im just sick of threads whining about how much use of reskins there are in GWEN. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Lawnmower,
You know what the sadist thing is?
The fact that video games and real life are VERY similar if not the same. It WILL end. There is nothing you can do about it.

A question: Can the internet crash? Is it possible to disable the entire internet?
The thing is that I dont know what to leave behind when I die... I like my character in GW because it represents myself, is cool, i made a lot of friends with that character, it looks really epic and timeless with a big sword and shield...
its just these things not used in our current world. I cant see how I would be able to shape myself or have any physical things in RL that where as cool. i dont have any or have seen any tangible objects I could put in a stainless steel glass cage.
Im atheist. I dont believe in heaven and hell. from earth we have come. from earth we will become. I just want something of me to stay. something that is mine that none can touch with.
my GW characters could be that. its mine, i made it, i shaped the characters history. only i know the password. and if people would continue to play the world it would be like(in theory) that my character was still alive and well in the everlasting wars in GW... long after i am physically dead. The character would be all that survives me.
You see what I mean?

Zinger's the man.
Anyway, about OP:
That "forever" MMO already exists. It is called Real Life. It isn't a perfect game by any means. There is a LOT of grind, a lot of work, and it is stuck in PvP mode... once you die in the game, your character gets deleted. It's a dangerous world in Real Life, but there are rewards too. There is beauty and wonder out there, if you are willing to seize it through hard work. The graphics are pretty good for the most part, some character models are butt-ugly but fortunately Real Life already has a hairstylist, appearance changer, and a lot of things that GW doesn't. None of it is instanced, which is a bit unusual, and unfortunately you can't acquire a mount until level 16 or so, depending on your server. That leaves a lot of dependency on higher level players helping you out your first 18 or so levels. Unfortunately, Real Life is not fair and many players dislike this fact. There are many griefers out there, however, you should be able to do fine anyway. There is EXTREME character customization and many, many alliances to gain faction with... democrats, republicans, christians, muslims, americans, etc. The combat system is a bit lacking however, it relies much more on reflexes and character strength then player skill, but most of all whatever gear you have. I recommend you give it a try... it is free to get started and although there are monthly fees, they only apply to people who own their own segment of virtual real-estate to play on. Real Life is incredibly open ended and I definitely recommend at least giving it a try.

Well, if this really isn't a joke, as long as your not actually some old guy you could become an artist. That's a good way to leave something behind.
Of course, if you actually think that a video game character is something to base the worth of your life on, you really don't have much of a life, and art in itself won't fix that.
So, stop playing the game and LIIIIVVE!
The game has your life in a vice-grip, break it, BREAK IT!!
Now start exercising, clean yourself up, and talk to random strangers.
And to all the fat people out there; it's always really hard exercising at first, but it gets easier the more you do it (unless you constantly up the exercising, which isn't necessary unless you want constant improvement, since staying at the level of exercise your at will keep you in the condition your currently in.)

Disabling the server and back up server with your character on it would be much easier. Point is your chasing a pipe dream. Especially since you don't believe in an afterlife you should be experiencing life around you for the short time your here. The key to immortality isn't through GuildWars, this is an absolute fact.

An unused character on a server somewhere would be as meaningful a legacy as $5.00 in a disused bank account. Even less so, as at least the money might gain interest if not eaten by bank fees in the first month. It is human nature to want to leave something behind after death. Some choose children, some choose buildings, art or funds for good works. Why would you choose to set your sights so low? I don't know if you're trolling as has been suggested, but I do think you need a to apply a bit of perspective.
Zoloft FTW!

I dunno if it is a joke, but it does look like one...
If it is real, I am really speechless...Only thing that come to my mind is that you have probably played this game way too much, and getting way too involved into it. Please take a break, and play it more casually. It's for your own good. Being depressed about a game and getting suicidal tendencies is definitely not a good sign.
That reminds me of the funeral thing in WoW >.>

that gave me a nice chuckle.
I do live. And I dont play this game constantly.
Its just a comforting feeling that if I should die or get killed(or when i die or get killed) I have something left.
I have an okay life I think(RL that is). I just like having an extra one. I dont see how this is joke related.
WTH do you people play? the hole point of this game for me is to create my character.. my alter ego.
Games like oblivion sucks because creating characters in does games, you only interacte with the AI. you cant get responses, emotes are not meaningful and you cant.. making character customization in single player games is just pointless because no one can see who you are.
